I don't hate Peacock, Peacock just is out there with a lot of other public market assistance companies. I have no ill feelings towards the man whatsoever. Perhaps it would be to his benefit if he had some success in his history of return to investors but so far, it has been nothing but heavy losses.
But the mere fact that Jim Palmer Trucking is going public is to access capital, not so that investors can get rich. Chances are they are in serious trouble. They may have had fixed contracts that are killing them due to fuel increases. They could have tons of trucks on lease.
The most likely thing that is going to happen is upon merger is you are going to be faced with some nasty looking financials that you were unprepared for that is going to send a stream of sellers to the exit lines pronto.
Big does not equate to financial success or health. You can always hunt me down later and slap me in the face with my post and say I was wrong as heck. My vote is for devastation when the 8-K comes forth.
In the meantime if you have any considerable money riding on it I would strongly suggest getting a D&B report or at least signing up for Montana UCC for further research. $9.99 will at least get you on D&B alert.
