U.S. Patent & Trademark Office Grants Tumbleweed a New Email Firewall Patent

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., May 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tumbleweed® Communications Corp. (Nasdaq: TMWD - News), a leader in managed file transfer and email security, today announced that it has been granted U.S. Patent No. 7,380,274 by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The new patent, titled "Email Firewall" describes the enforcement of multiple administrator-selected policies to email traffic entering or leaving an organization. The new patent is a continuation of U.S. Patent No. 7,162,738, which is itself a continuation of Patent No. 6,609,196, which claims priority to an application filed on July 24, 1997.

Tumbleweed's patent portfolio, which broadly covers secure communication over Internet standards, includes 29 granted U.S. utility patents.
