I would say years of putting your nose in Spanish Archives, ivestigating leads and information from local inhabitants, being able to distinguish between historical recks and treasure fleets, not assuming that because a wreck is old it must have treasure on it, logging many hours diving, knowing weather (storm patterns), how a ship breaks apart during a hurricane or how the terrain of the ocen floor can change over a hundred or more years. The list goes on.
