From what i know it searches out the fastest available net and automatcly connect. Birdstep is the only Mobile IP based company that don`t depend on their own server or roaming gateway, the client interacts with exsisting VPN server and is base on open standard. The thing that makes the client "unique" is that it will automaticly shut on/of VPN server afte need. The software will be ready for sale to the biggest mobile operator in Norway and Sweden in a offive package together with Ericsson Enterprise and partner Alice Systems. The trigger should be speed. detect and connect to the fastest available net.
Regarding ASNAP being hardware and not software:
1.In what type of devices can ASNAP be used?
2.The Price? The Birdstep Client cost 40 dollars today, but the price is likely to fall below 10 dollars during the year. How can Calypso and their hardware compete with that. If the hardware solution isn`t that much better in the first place? As you know software is much easier to produce!
