I would think that if Etrade had been allowing naked shorting then they'd be low on the bid or on a low ask, and they are not. So, I'm assuming they are not needing to cover and therefore not involved in naked shorting. Legal shorting will work itself out with a short covering in due time and that will cause good upward price movement. TDAtrades market maker, on the other hand is one with the big spread so they may be trying to cover. Let's hope not. If they complete the share conversion at the same time that ETrade and others do then I'll feel better about their legitimacy.
