You're right. Reminds me of that old saying, "One man's treasure is another man's junk." If they were not funny to the recipient, then they couldn't be called a joke.
Now, to me, I thought that it was hilarious! Because I knew that it was meant as a joke. I truly am beginning to believe that it must be a cultural thing. I'm so used to the "good ole boy" sense of humor that it surprises me to realize that others are not used to it.
But it really was a joke. Nobody should have felt threatened, and if they were, then I'm sure that the people who wrote it feel badly about it. I know that I would.
Heck, I sent some friends a political cartoon one time that I thought was hilarious...and they didn't find it humorous at all. So...I know what it's like to be on the other end of the stick. Not very fun.
