Few people think objectively when it comes to politics.
On each side, liberals and conservatives seem to have a motto to "take whatever you can get." Which further polarizes each party.
A typical liberal would gladly seize every handgun in the country if you gave them a chance, knowing full well it violates the constitution. While a typical conservative would gladly force all students of public schools to learn the teachings of the Bible, knowing full well it's a clear violation of church and state.
Both extreme sides have no respect for the constitution or it's original intent. Instead both sides tug as hard as they can, without consideration for what's constitutionally correct. It seems to just be a political free for all. "Take whatever you can get, because they'll do they same." This sort of disrespect to American rights and intended values it going to be very hazardous to all of our rights and freedoms.
Another perfect example of this is, looking at what each party is accusing each other of. Talk to your typical conservative about Hillary Clinton being a murderer..."they believe every word of it!", or about Bush and Cheney's "secret plot" to "plant WMDs in Iraq," liberals believe it too. But they don't believe it because it makes sense, they just believe it because they have a natural contempt for the opposing party - they believe it simply because they want it to be true, even if it defies all common sense and likelihood.
