MAY 14, 2008 Activity at Airship Surveillance continues to build and increase in pace.
We are now moved in to our new, larger, facility which is allowing work to be undertaken on the R&D1 airship, and more importantly the first L2 airship much more efficiently. You can see the new facility in two of the video clips on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/user/AirshipSurveillance.
Photos will be added to our web site in due course.
Testing with the R&D1 airship is essentially complete. The control station has now been fully programmed and our pilots are all very pleased with the usability of the system, which provides a very high level of 'intelligent' control by switching between aerodynamic control surfaces and thrusters only when needed. This work will transfer directly to all of our larger airships. This productive airship will now undergo a retrofit before beginning classified work.
Progress on the L2 production airship continues apace with most of the major components on site and being prepared for integration on the airship. We will continue to post updates on the assembly of the airship as in the comming weeks.
The company received its first signed contract on May 4th to perform systems engineering studies for a wide range of biological, chemical and radiation sensors from a Las Vegas-based company, which has extensive contacts in defense, energy, and academic communities The contract also calls for the Company to develop an accompanying series of deployment concepts (Concepts of Operations) for each specific set of payload suites and should result in test flights followed by operational deployment of the sensors.
Everyone who has not done so yet, should go to the AirSur website and sign up to receive the newsletter.
