Anyway, I just thought it needed to be pointed out that due to the date, the article that was being put front and center as though it was fresh news was not, in fact, fresh at all. Thanx.

And anyway, everyone asks why Paul Strickland has always chosen to be so given to quiet rather than trumpeting news and it occurs to me that we've been handed the obvious answer on a silver platter, for in the very argument that there may be competition materializing that ought to concern us, we have in front of us the explanation for why a small, underfunded, technologically vulnerable stinky pinky had to decide that silence is golden: So as to NOT give bigger, stronger outfits a peek at what they might want to develop on their own.... Duh! I've always wondered why this has not been as plain as day to anyone who is actually sentient.

I mean, I'm pretty sure the obvious answer is for us all to wring our hands and run around like wet hens cackling loudly because big bad Microsoft might stir itself. Then lets all get in small groups and cluck quietly amongst ourselves about how there might be a big bad wolf creeping around developing the very same thing as Spooz is working on. And therein is the plain and simple explanation why Paul Strickland has buttoned his lip and sealed the hatches with a welders torch.... to do whatever he could to keep what competative edge he had.

Basically: don't stick your head up or it may get blown off. The easiest way to destroy any chance he might have of actually delivering a really revolutionary Excel solution for algorithmic trading was for him to nail the doors shut and act like he was in a room full of hidden microphones all the time. What kind of idiot would he have been if, trumpeting their progress and washing his dirty laundry in public, he had given away the future to a bigger company or two who had vastly superior funding and resources and could bring out a product more quickly? He may not be able to deliver, but at least he had the common sense to keep a lid on it while he was trying. Anyway, thats my opinion of why the hand has been played the way it has been played.
