if you re-read what I wrote, you will see that I didn't actually assign this instance as insider trading, rather using large volume spike before good news as an example of potential insider trading and a sign of good things to come. Large volume spikes of purchases = good thing. :)

Insider trading is illegal, but do you honestly think it doesn't happen all the time (especially when money is to be made)? In the case of Marta Stewart, she sold before a major loss.That landed her in jail. You don't hear of many people going to jail for buying before a run upwards. If you know of any instances, please let me know where to read about them because I am interested in researching this subject.
