Economists said consumers were being forced to make greater use of their credit cards during hard economic times when they are being battered by job losses, soaring gasoline prices and higher food costs.

And there's the root of our problem. We're entitled to continue having everything we're used to, even if we can't afford it. If the income isn't there to support our lifestyle, we just borrow it without a thought to how we're going to support our lifestyle AND repay the debt in the future.
