Colonel Jeffrey A. Powers (USMC, Retired) Tapped to Lead HSTI Into Expanding Defense Market


DEL MAR, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 21, 2004 -- Eyemakers, Inc. (Other OTC:EYEM.PK - News) announced today that its has completed its first acquisition in the Homeland Defense Market by acquiring all the assets of Homeland Security Technology, Inc. (HSTI). Additionally, Colonel Jeffrey A. Powers (USMC Retired) has been tapped to lead the company into the rapidly expanding Homeland Defense market.
"After extensive strategies sessions with Colonel Powers about his vision for the future of Homeland Defense and Security, it was decided to rapidly proceed and close this acquisition in record time. Colonel Powers has extensive experience in special operations with the Marine Corps and with the US Army Special Forces. He is also experienced in mechanized warfare and has worked in the US, the Middle East and Europe to include Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Much of his experience involved state, federal and local police interaction," commented Mr. Ernest Remo, CEO of Eyemakers, Inc.

"HSTI has evolved into a business from my many years of military experience and dozens of contacts both with the defense contractor industry and with active duty military. Currently, we are in active negotiations with several defense contractors squarely the face of the current homeland security market. The most promising sector from the special operations point of view is finding technology that will protect military personnel in urban warfare situations. 2005 Homeland Security Market

Recent press reports have indicated that President Bush has proposed a 14.4% increase in spending for the Department of Homeland Security to $47.4 billion. The request for total military spending was slated at $402.6 billion. Highlights of the 2005 budget include: $3.2 Billion for Future Combat Systems an Army program developing military gear for soldier to use in combat situations. $890 million was budgeted for aviation security measures such as bomb detection machines and air marshal training. The Justice Department is to receive a 242% budgetary increase from 2001 levels to $22 billion for counter-terrorism and homeland defense efforts allocating more than 2,600 FBI agents for counter-terrorism efforts.

Colonel Jeffrey Powers USMC (retired) has recently retired from the US Marine Corps achieving the rank of Colonel. He is veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Storm where he commanded a 1200 man Task Force into Saudi Arabia as part of the lead Marine Corps contingent in Desert Shield. Colonel Powers was decorated for valor while serving as Operations Officer for the lead Task Force into Kuwait. Additionally, Colonel Powers held command assignments in Marine reconnaissance, light armor reconnaissance, a Dutch Marine rifle company, a US Army Special Forces (Green Beret) training company, as well as officer in charge of Special Operations Training Group for the Marines on the west coast. He commanded two Light Armor Reconnaissance Battalions. Following retirement from the Marine Corps, Colonel Powers worked as an analyst for the US Army's Future Combat Systems at Boeing. Colonel Powers has over 26 years experience in training, motivating, and directing multinational, civilian, and military personnel. He developed combat proven techniques utilized to build cohesive teams capable of rapid planning and response in any high stress environment.
