How about the U.S. act like Hugo Chavez, and seize the assets of XOM in the interest of "national security"?

While I am not in favor of "windfall taxes", there are other ways to siphon money out of these corporations. There are tons of tax breaks that the companies take advantage of, and these loopholes could be closed to accomplish the same thing.

However, good luck to any politician willing to champion that ... they'd be shunned quickly by colleagues who are on the oil companies' lobbying payrolls.
