Moreover, it could happen that approaching 3+GHz and smaller geometries may, for *any* combination of process technologies, have some serious power consequences. Consequences that will probably see us transition quickly to two uP cores as is now specified in all roadmaps. This will allow the progression of computing speed and the use of single processors, albeit already powerful, for *lesser* applications while keeping the frequencies of higher (dual) and lower end (single) uP in close proximity in the use of a single process.

It would be interesting to know just how much dual processors will increase die size. For example, would it take what Intel has on hand in fabs?
