M'bishi Heavy Profit Up On Sales Of Thermal Power Plants, Wind Power Facilities
TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (7011) said Monday its sales and profits for the year ended March 31 grew on solid overseas sales of thermal power plants and wind power facilities.
The Tokyo-based heavy machinery maker reported a net profit of Y61.33 billion, up from Y48.84 billion a year earlier.
That was a bit lower than the Y63.8 billion net profit consensus forecast compiled by financial information provider Nikkei Quick based on 18 analysts' expectations
Sales rose 4.4% to Y3.203 trillion from Y3.069 trillion, while operating profit gained 25% to Y136.03 billion.
For this fiscal year ending March 2009, the company is predicting a 12% fall in net profit to Y54 billion with a 0.1% fall in sales to Y3.2 trillion. It also projects a 12% fall in operating profit to Y120 billion.
Its earnings results are based on Japanese accounting standards.
