You just MAY have hit on something here.

It's OK if you aren't sure of the proper grammatical usage of a word in a given sentence.

When unsure, as in the use of your or you're, or effect or affect, the commonly accepted apology is to follow the word with something to show that, as in...

<sp?> (for spelling)

Others use another phrase...

<sic>

Even adding those to your post would be considered acceptable and not considered annoying.

Just some food for thought here.
