It is not always the MMs that do crazy things to the PPS. It could have been a mistake. It happens. It happened to me. I put in a sell order far above the PPS once. I added an extra zero the the price and didn't double check it. Two minutes after I submitted it, the shares sold right down the river...bringing the PPS with it.

I'm going to guess the sale this morning was someone putting an incorrect sale price. As soon as the market opened, down it went.
