If you get burned on a stock you bought would you expect your commission fee back from your broker. Of course not. When you hire someone to do somthing you pay them!

Now, if the law firm did not perform then you negotiate. You don't write a rubber check. This CEO is lucky he's not in jail for writing a bad check.
