Everyday a man passes by a bakery on his way to work and sees the old lady inside beating a small child with a loaf of bread. He feels sorry for the child but does not intervene. This goes on for weeks until one day he walks past and sees the old lady beating the child with handfulls of cake. The man finally has seen enough so he walks into the bakery and yells at the lady, "I walk past and watch you beat this child everyday with a loaf of bread and today you are beating him with handfuls of cake! What is your problem!!?"
The old lady releases the child, looks up at the man, and says...

"Today is his birthday."
