Fed Speakers, Wholesale Inventories In Focus On Wednesday
4/9/2008 7:34:10 AM There is little economic news set to be released on Wednesday. Still, a couple of Federal Reserve speakers will keep markets interested.
At 9:30 am Eastern Time, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will speak before the Jump Start Financial Literacy conference, though not much in the way of guidance is expected. Still, the markets will scrutinize his remarks for any sign of what the Fed might be thinking.
Dallas Federal Reserve Bank President Richard Fisher will make comments on Wednesday as well. His remarks are scheduled to take place at 1:30 pm Eastern Time. Fisher is a voting member of the FOMC and voted against the Fed's last interest rate cut, which lowered the benchmark rate by three-quarters of a percentage point.
At 10 am Eastern Time, the government is scheduled to release statistics about wholesale trade for February. This will provide the markets a look at the sales and inventory held by wholesalers.
