Briboy - the downside to tennis is that it's very demanding on the joints and tendons, especially on hard courts and at competitive levels of play.

Jimmy Connors also had to have a hip replacement, but he sure got some major use out of it ! His longevity on the pro tour was incredible.

Formerly I also enjoyed distance running but developed a hip problem while training for the NYC marathon back in 1997 .... the doctor warned me not to over do it with exercise or else I'd need a hip replacement by age 60 .... so I quit the running and cut back my tennis to just 3 or 4 days a week. Ironically, my hip is still fine now almost 11 years later, but the wrist tendonitis is keeping me on the sidelines.
