this has got to be getting them close to some convenant triggers listed in their 2007 10K by now.

I am not sure what the triggers are, but this quote from an article has me wondering:

Brian Piccioni, an analyst at BMO Capital Markets, "but what we found surprising with the announcement is the lower than expected sales across all business segments. We had thought the graphics business would do better than the micro processing business, which had been subject to delays."

I would have to agree with the analyst. Which begs the question, is it possible AMD is doing some creative "cooking" of the accounting books in order to avoid hitting any of those triggers? I would not be at all surprised.
