The difference is that Obama earlier pledged to accept public financing if the Republican candidate did the same. He is going to renege. But what the heck, he'll get a pass on that as well, because he's the messiah!


Because most of the mainstream media has been controlled by liberals, Republicans have always believed that they needed to raise more money than the Democrats just to offset that advantage. McCain has proven to be far more accessible to the press than Obama has. The Obama staff does not trust their candidate to speak off the cuff, they try to limit him to prepared speeches. As a result, McCain is getting some free press he wouldn't otherwise have.
