OT: Sinclap, Roni, and WLD

Sinclap: Yes, my house is paid for. That is what makes the decision so tough. This is home and I am in my comfort zone.

Roni: Your point is a good one. Often, I have thought I should move out and try something new. But I used to have a nomadic lifestyle and am no stranger to being the new kid on the block.
I will allow that this would be an easier decision if it was the Lockheed division in Tucson AZ instead of Atlanta GA. Atlanta is nice but I like the desert areas much more.

WLD: I have thought about renting out the house to offset the rent. But I would most likely need to hire a property manager to look after things and collect the rent. Being a landlord would be new ground for me. But renting would offer quite a few advantages--as well as a few disadvantages due to the distance involved. Finding a good renter is a crapshoot.

It is a laberinth of decisions, and until I hear all the deal Lockheed will offer, I'm stuck in a holding pattern until we talk.

Much will depend on how much time and walking around money Lockheed would give me to make the move. I need 4 to 6 weeks to get ready. Less than that would be a logistical nightmare.

I'm supposed to fly down this Wednsday, but the instruction package with the airline tickets that was SUPPOSED to arrive in the mail this Thursday past is not here yet.

How long this job would last(I have no clue and there are no guarentees) is a consideration:

Lockheed Marietta gets $100M in F-22 work

Lockheed Martin Corp. has won $365 million in contracts to provide program support for the F-22 Raptor, and the company's Marietta plant will get 33 percent of that work.

According to the U.S. Department of defense, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. of Marietta will get a third of the work, while Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. of Fort Worth, Texas will get 35 percent of the job and The Boeing Co. of Seattle will get 32 percent.

The contract work is to be completed by February 2004.

And we could debate and argue this link until the sun burns out.
