In addition to France, IdentiPHI will focus on the UK market as well as Germany, Spain and Italy. The company also has its eye on Eastern Europe, where Nerrant said there is less infrastructure, but a willingness to move fast in securing infrastructure as it develops. "This is particularly where IdentiPHI will leverage its partnerships with Dell and others," he said.
One of IdentiPHI's key advantages is its compatibility. "Because of our design and architecture, IdentiPHI supports the majority of the biometrics hardware on the market today right out of the box," said Nerrant.
The company's go-to-market model in Europe involves working with three different types of distributors, according to Nerrant. The first is through PC makers like Dell or Toshiba, which are already building biometric sensors into their laptops. Technology providers will also be crucial. "We're working with companies like Citrix and Novell, who have accounts already and need to complement their solutions with ours," Nerrant said. The third key is what Nerrant termed "niche market distributors" -- local, smaller companies that typically cover just one country and are specialized in a certain vertical such as finance, education or government.
