Jatropha will not be grown profitably in the United States for the following reasons:

1) Climate. Hard winters are not good for Jatropha
2) Land Costs. You can get a ton of land dirt cheap in certain regions of the world, while an acre in Kentucky is damn expensive; let alone Florida or a southern state.
3) Labor Costs. This is the killer, 6.25 an hour to collect Jatropha when you can get labor for under .25 a day in some places.
4) Economies. Economies in 3rd world nations are much more inclined to plant Jatropha compared to 1st world or 2nd world economies.
