Incredible! I though this was in error, I did not believe it when I read the first text until the second article brought verification.

I disagree in part with the second text in that Russia is becoming a 'US lieutenant'. Russia has some heavy cards to play. There is vulnerability on both the Russian and American sides. Whatever this is, it is mutual. Something huge must be in the works for Russia who has jealously guarded her secrecy and growled against the expansion that brought NATO to her borders to let NATO combat troops on Russian soil. Conversely, why would NATO let Russia deploy combat units on their territory?

This is true the White House requires the Southern Caucasus under NATO control in order to launch war operations against Iran after the Iraqi campaign. This being one of the reasons I have followed the turmoil in Georgia. Thus we could be looking at the preliminary preparations for the invasion of Iran but I think this to be a deterrent also aimed at China.

What we have been getting in the news, however atrocious, regarding Afghanistan, Iraq and so forth must be insignificant for these changes to be considered. The conditions put forth are not about a regional conflict this seems a preparation for a World War. -Am

New agreement between NATO, Russia likely

MOSCOW: Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Sunday that Russia hopes this year to strike an unprecedented deal with NATO, which would allow Cold War foes to deploy combat units on each other's territories.

According to a Russian news agency Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov's expressed his hopes that after the agreement better relationship would be started between Russia and NATO.

Before this, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov used to criticize policies of NATO.
He had expressed his resentment on joining of three- former Russian states in NATO terming it against Russian interests.

In the following the influence of the United States in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan is not quite as significant as written. Russia still retains considerable control over much of her 'near abroad'.

Russia becoming Uncle Sam's estate

The deployment of US military bases in the former Soviet republics was provoked by the shift of political context after the September 11 attacks.

On September 19, 2001, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov stated that each one of the CIS states (Commonwealth of Independent States, former Soviet Union) will be making its own decision on whether to provide its territories for the attack on Afghanistan.

Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Georgia declared about their willingness «to be in the closest cooperation» with the United States. The increase of the US presence in the post-Soviet space was rapidly developing in several different directions.

By the end of 2001 airbase in Marneuli, Georgia was modernized with US money in compliance with the NATO standards. When the facility was put into operation, the direct opportunity came up for the deployment of NATO bases in Transcaucasia (the Southern Caucasus). Kyrgyzstan (Kirghizia) was involved in the process as well. US military airbase has already been set up at Kyrgyzstan’s main airfield Manas (3,200 pilots and technicians, 40 jetfighters and unmanned aerial vehicles, UAVs).

Massive US presence is now seen in Uzbekistan as well, where large US airbases were set up in Khanabad and Tuzela (about 6,000 US servicemen).

Thus the US administration has forced an entire program of long-term cooperation with post-Soviet states of Asia and Southern Caucasus. The decision on the Eastern European states joining the NATO has been determined once and for all, and three more flags are now flying over the NATO headquarters in Brussels: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Just before the invasion of Iraq we wrote that the White House needs to have Southern Caucasus under the NATO control in order to launch war operations against Iran after the Iraqi campaign. We wrote that it would happen when Washington addresses to Moscow with the request to support another expansion and provide airbases for the US aircraft on the territories of occupied Chechnya and in the cities of Mozdok, Makhachkala, Krasnodar and Rostov-On-Don. If Moscow refuses to fulfill Washington’s requests in providing the airfields, the US would start the ‘dismantling procedure’ by directly supporting the occupied Chechnya and the largest Russian regions that are trying to break away from the center.

Some reports say that this is what the backstage talk between former NATO chief and Putin was about during one of the meetings in Moscow. Today Putin is claiming that NATO expansion in the form it is happening today allegedly poses no threat to Russia. This is what Russian Foreign Ministry official Alexander Yakovenko said last Sunday as well. He claims that Russia can do without interaction with NATO in opposing new threats and challenges.

It also turned out that Russia actually doesn’t mind signing an agreement with NATO about a possibility of deployment of army units and military equipment on Russian territories this year. This is what Russian Defense Minister said last Sunday in Oslo:

«We hope this year we will sign an agreement with NATO on 'Status of Forces'».

This agreement is being prepared as part of Russia's cooperation with NATO in the fight against so-called 'international terrorism' and will allow NATO units and military equipment be deployed on the Russian soil.

Thus we are witnessing how the Russian state and the Kremlin leadership is getting under the control of NATO. Today it can be said for sure that a bloodless pro-NATO ‘velvet revolution' is going on in Russia under Putin’s 'devotion'.

Russia is being assigned the role of a 'US lieutenant' more and more. There is a chance that US generals will be taking salutes at the parades on Moscow’s Red Square.

In other words, Russia is being quietly conquered by the United States, while it is becoming Uncle Sam’s estate under the pretext of fighting on so-called 'international terrorism'.
