President and CEO

As CEO, Stephen is responsible for the coordination and management of corporate matters. He founded Greystone in 1988 as an independent investment banking firm and has since developed it into a mature investment firm with a national reputation.

Mr. Rosenberg leads Greystone as it successfully distinguishes itself in its creative approach and drive to provide solutions for its clients.

Prior to joining Greystone, Stephen was a National Director with Dean Witter Reynolds.

Stephen holds a D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School.


Robert R. Barolak
Co-Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Barolak has been a key executive since the firm’s inception. He has overseen strategy in most of Greystone’s business lines and supervised the firm’s nationwide housing business on both the debt and equity sides. Today, his activities focus on loan origination and acquisition programs, multifamily property acquisition and redevelopment activities. He also focuses on defaulted loan acquisition and resolution programs. He frequently guides some of the firm’s more innovative transactions.

Since 1980, Robert has worked in multifamily and healthcare financing, including conventional, assisted, and tax exempt. Prior to joining Greystone, he was a tax-exempt finance attorney with Ballard, Spahr, Andrews & Ingersoll.

He has a B.A. from Dickinson College and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.


Curtis A. Pollock
Co-Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Pollock oversees all corporate activity including new ventures. He manages financial reporting and maintenance of quality control in accounting practices. He also oversees portfolio valuation, document review and hedging. Curtis manages lending activities including general banking relationships, warehouse funding, bridge financing, repurchase agreements, construction, and various specific deal financings. He is also heavily involved in long-term management, and strategic fiscal planning.

In 1980, he began working in accounting, specializing in real estate, corporate finance, and mortgage banking. Prior to joining Greystone, he was with HLB Gross Collins in Atlanta.

Curtis has a B.B.A. and has attended the Masters of Taxation program at Georgia State University.


Petter Wendel
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Wendel is responsible for the oversight of accounting functions for all Greystone companies. This includes relationships with independent accounting firms. In addition, Petter manages the tax position for all Greystone companies, evaluates new investments, and monitors the performance of current business. He also has specific oversight and performance improvement responsibilities for certain Greystone companies.

Prior to joining Greystone, Petter was a Partner and founding member at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Global Structured Finance Group. He was also an executive managing director at Dexia Global Structured Finance, LLC.

He has a B.S. in accounting from Boston College, a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, and an L.L.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law. Petter is a certified public accountant in Massachusetts and New York and is also a member of the bar in Massachusetts.


Arthur Hatzopoulos

Mr. Hatzopoulos is responsible for credit risk management and securing financing for Greystone's various business activities. He also manages Greystone’s bridge and mezzanine financing activities, and is a member of the firm’s loan committee. Arthur is also responsible for marketing Greystone’s mortgage banking platform.

He has worked in the public and private sectors of healthcare, multifamily, affordable housing and tax exempt real estate finance since 1980. Prior to joining Greystone, he was a senior vice president with Related Capital Company.

Arthur earned a B.A. from Columbia University and an M.C.R.P from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.


Jody McClanahan
Director of Human Resources

Ms. McClanahan is responsible for directing all benefits, new employment and personnel matters. She is a member of the new business team that organizes and supports all office operations. These include: legal, payroll, marketing, and personnel for each new business that Greystone develops.

Jody has worked in banking, specializing in human resources and management since 1973. Prior to joining Greystone, she served as vice president of The Fauquier Bank.

She is a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management and the American Bankers Association of Human Resource Graduate School.


Lisa Schwartz
General Counsel

Ms. Schwartz is responsible for the oversight of the legal department. She advises senior management on corporate governance, licensing, insurance, security, personnel matters, risk management, litigation, advertising and general business matters. She is also responsible for preparation of legal agreements and management of outside counsel and provides legal support for numerous start-up businesses.

Lisa has provided legal counsel in the areas of corporate and securities law, structured finance, and other financial transactions since 1990. Prior to joining Greystone, she was a corporate attorney for Thacher Proffitt & Wood.

She earned a B.S.B.A. from the University of Illinois and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law.


Jonathan Russell
Chief Information Officer

Mr. Russell is responsible for Greystone’s information technology company, Greystone IT which provides all information technology- related products and services for Greystone and its affiliates. He directs the mission to help the various Greystone related businesses achieve their goals through manageable and scaleable IT support.

Jon has worked in corporate information technology for more than 15 years. Prior to joining Greystone, he directed the technology consulting division for HLB Gross Collins.

Jon earned two B.B.A. degrees from Kennesaw State University.


Jennifer Sullivan
Director of Corporate Communications

Ms. Sullivan directs and oversees Greystone’s marketing policies, objectives and initiatives. She is also responsible for managing media relations and advertising.

Jennifer has worked in marketing and research since 1996, focusing on areas of multifamily development, real estate, hospitality and investment. Prior to joining Greystone, she was marketing director for The Lefrak Organization where she managed company-wide advertising, public relations, market analysis, and media events.

Jennifer earned a B.B.A. from Baruch College of the City University of New York.


Eliza Kwong
Vice President Finance

Ms. Kwong assists the Chief Operating Officer in managing business operations and spearheading new business development for the various Greystone companies. She also assists with arranging financing, building banking relationships, and managing the company’s portfolio of investments.

Eliza has worked in economic, regulatory, legal, accounting and tax aspects of domestic and cross-border asset-based financing transactions since 2000. Prior to joining Greystone, she was a vice president with Dexia Global Structure Finance, LLC.

Eliza has a B.S. from the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business.


Serafino Tobia
Director of CMBS and Bond Trading

Mr. Tobia is responsible for committing the company’s capital for the purchase and sale of FHA-insured mortgages, Fannie Mae and Ginnie Mae mortgage-backed securities, and tax-exempt municipal bonds.

Since 1980, Serafino has handled securities trading, portfolio management and hedging and derivative structuring. He also specialized in mortgage debt securities and municipal bonds. Prior to joining Greystone, he was a bond and derivatives trader in the municipal bond proprietary portfolio group for Lehman Brothers.

Serafino holds a B.A. from Brandeis University and an M.B.A. in finance from Stern School, New York University.


Tom Lally
Fixed Income Securities Trader

Mr. Lally is responsible for the origination of new multifamily products through government agencies, as well as utilizing Greystone’s extensive knowledge and experience in government programs.

Tom has been working in the commercial part of the mortgage market and its subsequent securitization since the inception of the industry in 1981. He has a broad base of expertise in valuing, trading and selling commercial products. Prior to joining Greystone, Tom was the managing director at United Bank of Switzerland (UBS) in Principal Finance Credit/Credit Arbitage. This ultimately became Dillion Read Captial Management. At UBS, he traded in the Commercial Mortgage/Government Guaranteed arena. He also performed this function at Daiwa and First Boston.

Tom hold a B.A. from the College of Holy Cross and has attended the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.


Mark R. Jarrell
Director of Capital Markets

Mr. Jarrell is responsible for increasing Greystone’s access to the capital markets, working across all of the many Greystone lending platforms and businesses.

Mark has been working in commercial real estate and commercial mortgage-backed securities since 1983. He has a broad base of expertise in securitization, origination, underwriting, marketing and management. Prior to joining Greystone, he was president and COO of CRIIMI MAE INC (NYSE: CMM), where he led all aspects of the company’s business. He also directed the day-to-day operations of the publicly traded mortgage REIT which was invested in subordinate commercial mortgage-backed securities. Mark concluded his position by managing a going-private merger transaction, which included serving as active CEO during a 12-month merger process.
