I will write a lot today. I will write a decoration for a member of our military for her valorous actions in the AOR. I will write some very formal stuff for an entity as well. However, what I write here is clearly the most important thing I will write all day.
Today is "Easter". Millions of children will wake up to find that Peter Cottontail has indeed visited and left a basket full of goodies and has secretly left eggs placed around the grounds for discovery.
But what does it mean to us?
For Christians, today is everything. Nothing else matters. If Jesus did not rise from the dead then everything else would not matter. Think about it. Today is the day that Christ arose and fulfilled the prophecy. It is what gives you and I hope, for we know this to be true and it strengthens our faith in Christ.
This does not make us better than anyone else; no, it just means someone loved us enough to show us what Christianity really is. It is not Easter and it is not Christmas. It is not Santa Claus and it is not “The Easter Bunny.” Today millions of families will come together to celebrate Easter: will they celebrate Christ ascending into heaven?
While the rest of the world makes a dollar catering to the commercialization of Easter, I choose to sit back, reflect, and realize what really happened.
