Immigration
In the Immigration section, you will find information on ICE efforts and strategies regarding immigration enforcement. While the DHS agency Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is responsible for securing the borders from illegal entry, ICE is responsible for apprehending, detaining and deporting those individuals who have managed to enter the country illegally. Various aspects of ICE immigration enforcement include:

Office of Detention and Removal (DRO), which represents the final step of the immigration enforcement process. DRO serves the public by removing unauthorized aliens from the United States. DRO’s resources and expertise are required to transport aliens from point to point, to manage them in custody while their cases are being processed and, finally, to remove them from the United States when ordered to do so.

Interior Enforcement, which includes combating the trafficking and smuggling of human beings and immigration related fraud, also includes the apprehension of fugitive aliens who have failed to surrender to DRO as required by law.

The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), which documents information pertaining to international foreign students and exchange visitors
The Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE), which collects and disseminates immigration status information necessary to determine eligibility for public benefits.
