Phenomenon Paris Hilton [date unknown]
Askmen Overexposed Celebrities [date unknown]

When a man in the unisex washroom asked someone else who she was, Paris Hilton immediately gave the guy an earful. She boasted that she was an actress, bi-coastal, and a model. As well, she's starting a modeling company and a makeup company. That was a couple of years ago

Phenomenon - "I agree wholeheartedly. On a less serious note, how's your modeling company doing?"

Paris - "Oh, great. We've got a lot of great girls working for us. And guys too. It's a lot of fun now because I've worked on both sides of the business

Paris Hilton
Tuesday, December 30, 2003
Here is how you get famous if your name is Paris Hilton. Take your legendary family name, go to parties, leave parties, wear hot clothes, and love the camera.
Tina Deerman, who has covered Paris for Us Weekly, says that there is a method to all this madness. She says, "Of course she loves the spotlight. I don’t think anyone would deny that. She realizes there is a path she is on, and a journey she is taking here to create a name for herself, to become a public figure, and eventually a famous actress."
But it is not "that" kind of actress for which Paris has been getting all the notoriety lately. Deerman says, "The struggle right now is to be seen in a legitimate light, not seen as some kind of joke. She knows this is part of the gig, if you will, of being rich, and an heiress, and being out on the scene."
Deerman adds, "She is a party girl. She does like to go out on the town. She wears things that are good girl, naughty at times. She wears things that are low cut. She wears things that are risqué. She is not a dumb girl; she is savvy enough to realize that."
**********************************************************
Paris Hilton doesn't smell of money, she smells of expensive perfume, after-sun and champagne. And she's very careful not to spill any of that expensive cocktail on her fluffy bits. Heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune, part-time model, actress and full-time high society party girl, when Paris eventually finishes the photo shoot and sashays into the room, wealth seeps from her every pore. Even clad in a simple dressing gown, she still looks a billion dollars. Well, $3.8 billion to be exact.
******************************************************

You must have wanted to be famous. Modeling, acting, recording — those things lead to fame.

My whole life, that's what I wanted to do. I don't want to sit and work at a desk. I'd rather be posing and having fun. When I was little, I loved Claudia Schiffer and Madonna. I grew up with fashion magazines around. I still love going to fashion shows — doing them and watching them
**********************************************************
Though Hilton has been taking acting classes three times a week, she's found it difficult to land roles that aren't riffs on her public profile, such as her cameos in Wonderland and Zoolander. In Japan, she and Nicky are superstars -- they are spokes-women for a line of local handbags as popular as Gucci is here, and their faces loom on billboards. ("We have to wear wigs," says Hilton of her trips to Tokyo. "I love wearing a wig.") Stateside, though, Hilton has little more going on than a jewelry line, a makeup line she says she's launching in the spring and, most important, The Simple Life

Paris Hilton beats President Bush in ratings
Friday, December 19, 2003
He may have beaten Saddam Hussein, but President George W. Bush was outdone by slinky socialite Paris Hilton when her television show got higher ratings than Bush's exclusive ABC interview Tuesday night.
More Americans watched Fox's "The Simple Life," which depicts the 22-year-old hotel heiress working on an Arkansas farm, than saw Bush being interviewed by Diane Sawyer, Nielsen Media Research said on Thursday.
"The Simple Life" may have been helped by the public saga of a video, making the rounds of the Internet, showing the granddaughter of hotel chain founder Conrad Hilton engaged in various sex acts with ex-boyfriend Rick Salomon.
"The Simple Life" drew 11.8 million viewers while Bush's ABC "Prime Time" interview drew 11 million, Nielsen said.
In the interview, the president made headlines by saying the recently captured ex-Iraqi leader should be executed -- the "ultimate penalty" -- for his iron-fisted rule in Iraq.
But Hilton won more viewers with her performance baking pies and working the town fair's kissing booth in a mini skirt.

But in a turn of events at least as odd as the homemade porn tape itself, Hilton's New York-based publicist, Dan Klores, has angered Fox officials by abruptly canceling all of her scheduled appearances, including "Live! With Regis & Kelly," MTV's "TRL," CBS' "The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn" and Sharon Osbourne's daytime talk show. Hilton's inhospitality also roused the ire of CBS host David Letterman, who was supposed to welcome her to "Late Show" Wednesday night. For the past four nights, Letterman has begged Hilton to come on the show while attacking her PR rep on-air as a "goon" and "pond scum" for nixing the original interview.
The backlash seems to have surprised even Klores, a veteran PR specialist who has at various times in the past offered crisis counseling to such clients as Jackson, Donald Trump and Mike Tyson.
'It's best if she doesn't do any interviews'
But Klores is sticking to his guns. He said he was hired by Hilton's parents, Rick and Kathy Hilton -- for $50,000, according to a report in the Village Voice -- and is not even due to meet his latest high-profile client until this weekend.
"I feel that for a variety of reasons, it's best if she doesn't do any interviews right now," he told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. "I'm sorry that interviews were canceled, but I'm here to protect her." Klores did not deny that the sex tape played a key role in his decision: "If it weren't for the videotapes, I wouldn't have been hired," he said.
The PR pullback seems especially bad news for Fox, which is stuck in fourth place in the ratings and desperately needs a new hit. While some TV veterans have speculated that the network was somehow connected to the release of the sex tape, there is no evidence of such a link, and Fox officials have strongly denied any involvement.
Yet the scandal will likely increase viewers' curiosity about Hilton and "Simple Life" -- or at least it would have, if the star had popped up discussing her newfound notoriety on Letterman and elsewhere.
According to a source familiar with the situation, Fox officials are most upset that Klores has steadfastly refused to take their calls about the situation. A Fox spokesman declined comment for this report.
Asked if he had been contacted by Fox, Klores replied, "As far as I know, no."
Upsetting Dave
The Letterman appearance was booked by Fox about a month ago, according to a source close to the show. Last Wednesday, not long after "Late Show" issued a press release touting Hilton's upcoming appearance, surprised Letterman staffers began getting calls from reporters who heard that her sit-down had been canceled.
This turn of events apparently miffed Letterman, who began his half-joking, half-serious attacks on Klores (albeit not by name) on the following night's show.
"He's some kind of PR guy, and I believe for a time, (he) lost his license to practice PR in this country, and he was running all his PR operations out of Mexico," Letterman joked on his show Monday night. A "Late Show" publicist declined comment.
One publicity executive said Klores appeared to be following "PR 101" by removing a troubled client from the public eye until the media firestorm settles down and a more sympathetic hearing -- a la Barbara Walters -- can be arranged.
But Robert Thompson, director of the Center for the Study of Popular Television at Syracuse University, said that even without the interviews, Fox will still likely enjoy a Hilton effect. "What the videotape did was to open the promotional season for 'Simple Life,' " Thompson said. "Everybody now knows that Paris Hilton is having a show come out."
Fox can only hope that's the case. The network is pushing ahead with plans for a "Simple Life" premiere party Tuesday night, and Hilton's name remains on the guest list.

Paris Hilton on Saturday Night Live
December 07, 2003
Rumors didn't let America down: Paris Hilton did make an appearance on Saturday Night Live last night. Dressed in a sharp, slightly sexy (but, let's face it, extremely demure for her), Paris Hilton appeared polite, a little nervous, but overall funny in a classic double entendre exchange with Jimmy Fallon during Weekend Update. Kudos, SNL writers and talent bookers, job well done.
Tina Fey: Paris Hilton is a name that's on everyone's lips these days. Here now in an exclusive interview with Jimmy Fallon in Paris Hilton.
Jimmy Fallon: Thanks for coming on.
Paris Hilton: Nice to be here.
JF: So, we agreed, we won't be discussing the scandal that's been in the papers the past couple weeks.
PH: I appreciate that.
JF: We want to find about you, Paris Hilton. Your family...the Hiltons own hotels all around the world.
PH: Yes, in New York, London, Paris.
JF: Wait, there actually is a Paris Hilton?
PH: Yes, there is.
JF: Is it hard to get into the Paris Hilton?
PH: Actually, it's a very exclusive hotel, no matter what you've heard.
JF: I hear the Paris Hilton is very beautiful.
PH: I'm glad that you've heard that.
JF: Is there double occupancy at the Paris Hilton?
PH: No.
JF: Is the Paris Hilton very roomy?
PH: It might be for you. But most people find it very comfortable.
JF: I'm a VIP, I might need to go through the back entrance.
PH: Doesn't matter who are you – it's not going to happen.
JF: Fair enough, okay. I throw a lot of events. Do they have ballrooms there?
PH: We do.
JF: Great, I'd love to have my balls held by the Paris Hilton. Sounds awesome. I'd like to check into the Paris Hilton.
PH: I don't think you can.
JF: Really? I'd only be able to stay there a minute and a half...two minutes, tops.
PH: Good luck.
JF: Paris Hilton

It has been estimated that in 2004, Paris Hilton could easily make $10 million all on her own. She's busy designing a collection of Juicy Couture-like loungewear called Paris and helping her sister, Nicky, design a line of Samantha Thavasa handbags sold at Fred Segal and Kitson in Los Angeles. She is appearing in several movies, including Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! and fall's Raising Helen, with Kate Hudson. She's even working on an upcoming album featuring a song written by 'N Sync's JC Chasez. There's the small matter of The Simple Life sequel that Fox would love to nail down—Hilton has yet to commit—and in Japan, where she is practically a superstar, she is rumored to be considering an array of licensing deals for cosmetics and electronic products.
Paris Hilton herself has become a product. Check your spam. She is being hawked by cybermerchants right along with ersatz Viagra. Check your newspaper's opinion columnists. She is not just a gossip item, but fodder for intellectual cud chewers. The Washington Post's recently hired scribe Tina Brown wrote an early piece about how Hilton is the perfect cover girl for our “post-embarrassment age.” “Yeah, this Tina Brown woman showed up backstage at the Gentlemen Prefer Blondes taping,” says Hilton, shrugging. “She asked me for my autograph. Said her daughter was a huge fan of mine. She wanted me to sign her reporter's pad, but I got out my Hello Kitty colored pens and did something more special.”

Paris Hilton makes solid studio effort
By Glenn Gamboa / March 9, 2004
When Paris Hilton announced that she was heading into the studio to record a CD, she was ready for the snickers.
But some who have actually heard what she's working on with producer Robb Boldt say she should get ready for the applause.
"She's got her own style, she's got a vibe going, and it's pretty cool," says singer JC Chasez, who dropped in on one of Hilton's studio sessions recently.
"I would say it's better than some stuff out there. I'm proud of her for being brave enough to do it, because she knows she's going to stand under a microscope and everybody's going to scrutinize the hell out of her.

Hilton, the leggy, blonde hotel heiress, and Richie, equally blonde daughter of singer Lionel Richie, helped make the first season of "The Simple Life" a huge success for Fox. The pretty young ladies broke free from their sheltered upbringings, working odd jobs milking cows and hawking burgers at a fast food restaurant while living with a family in ultra-rural Altus, Ark., population 817.
They drew laughs from viewers who were amazed that Hilton and Richie had never held a regular job or seen a pay check, much less know what do with one. They did manage to bake a pie, but the family's dog ate most of it before it could be presented at a local festival.

The Simple Life star Paris Hilton talks to reporters about her visit to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa Friday after she fell from a horse.
Pop culture princess Paris Hilton fell off a horse Friday evening in Hernando County while filming the reality television show The Simple Life 2.
Within a few hours, most of the world knew about it.
Hilton suffered only minor injuries from the fall and a kick in the stomach from the horse, but she was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa as a precaution.
Hilton's travels through the region in recent days have caused a buzz. When she tumbled from the horse on Friday, a full circus erupted.
Stories hit the news wires, reporters swarmed outside the hospital and the spectacle surrounding Hilton grew only larger.
Chris Alexander, publicist for Twentieth Century Fox Television in Los Angeles, said the 23-year-old Hilton was filming for the Simple Life 2 when the incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. She was treated by paramedics at the scene, Alexander said.
"To err on the side of caution, we med-evaced her to St. Joseph's Hospital for observation," Alexander said. "She was walking around shortly after the incident."
News crews - radio, television, print - flooded the hospital's parking lot and set up shop on a small grass island near the emergency room.
Cameramen, at least six of them, jostled for the best shot. Reporters dictated stories into cell phones. One even brought a pizza.
By the time hospital spokeswoman Lisa Patterson emerged to address the growing media, the press questions had reached a fever pitch.
How is Paris?
"She is going to be just fine," Patterson said.
Have you had to increase security at the hospital?
"We always take patient safety as a top priority."
Is there a chance you can tell her we'd like to talk to her?
"She knows."
About the same time Friday night, some 30 people had gathered at the Batten ranch, a weekend rodeo hangout five miles east of Brooksville on a winding country road.
The ranch is one of the locations for the show, which this season has Hilton and fellow socialite Nicole Ritchie on a cross-country trip without money, credit cards or their ubiquitous cell phones. Last season, the duo lived with a farm family in rural Arkansas.
Hardly anyone at the ranch would say they had seen Hilton, nor would they describe what happened to her. Several people said they'd been told to come Friday night for bullriding and that someone "important" would be there.
One person acknowledged it was Hilton.
Up at the Batten farmhouse, a production crew remained on hand. A Times reporter who asked about Hilton and her injury was given a terse no comment and urged to leave.
Travis Batten emerged from the house and escorted the Times reporter from the property. By 8:30 p.m., TV lights were still illuminating the front yard.
Elsewhere around Hernando and Pasco counties, talk of Hilton's movements abounded.
There was talk that Hilton and Ritchie were headed to Pasco County this weekend to a nudist colony off U.S. 41, and Hilton was reported to be heading to a well-known Brooksville watering hole this weekend.
"They were supposed to be here tonight or Saturday," said Louise LaMont, mother of the owner of Miss Kitty's Lounge and Package in Brooksville Friday evening. "The phones have been ringing off the hook all day long."
Friday's events followed Hilton's appearance at Weeki Wachee Springs earlier this week.
About 9 p.m., hospital officials moved the media mob to the helicopter landing pad.
"We know this is a global story," hospital spokesman Will Darnall said. "We want to get you the best shot possible."
Hilton emerged from the emergency room a few minutes later. Any sense of order fell to pieces.
"There she is!" one television reporter shouted. "Paris, can you just come talk with us one minute!? Can we just ask you a couple of questions?!"
Hilton obliged. She walked over to the mob, as a crew from The Simple Life 2 filmed the news crews filming her.
"I feel really tired," she said, peering back at the cameras. "But I'm just really lucky. I was just really scared."
The reporters captured every word.
"I feel a lot better now," Hilton said, "but I don't think I'll ride a horse for awhile."
As the news crews packed up and rushed from the scene to prepare for broadcast, a man and woman walking out of the hospital looked at the scene, perplexed. What is going on, the man asked, what is all the commotion?
"It's Paris Hilton," shouted a cameraman.
"Who is that?" the man asked.
The cameraman shook his head.
"Who is that?" the cameraman said. "He needs to watch more TV."

PARIS HILTON Her forthcoming singing debut: sign of the apocalypse or inevitable career move? Perhaps both. Either way, this baby's going to get some serious play on this D.J.'s deck — right alongside Divine's cover of "Name Game" and Steve Martin's "King Tut." Granted, I haven't heard it yet, but I'm looking forward to this like I look forward to the next Christopher Guest movie. And she's already made the video!

Paris Hilton’s waifish visage currently adorns the covers of a number of popular magazines, including Elle and Maxim. Thanks to the success of the hugely popular reality TV series, “The Simple Life,” Ms. Hilton now enjoys an unprecedented level of fame and popularity. No matter where you turn, there she is. Indeed, she is at the forefront of everyone’s attention and adulation – which is exactly what she wants.
But how did she get there?
Paris Hilton did not get there through hard work. She did not get there through diligence and sacrifice. And she certainly did not get there through education or common sense.
She got there because she allowed the whole world to have access to the most graphic ....................................................
