Oh so true. What a joke that the US, with the greatest economy the Earth has ever seen, is unable to take advantage of it's own resources. Maybe we should buddy up with Cuba as they seem to have no problems getting at our oil.

There is a huge potential offshore for deepwater oil, we just need to get access to it. The best part for oil services such as deep down would be that if we did open up offshore US, we would see a quick drop in the price of oil yet we would see a big demand for offshore services. Especially deepwater.
