DCNM...Val, closing/covering a short position involves a buy, not a sell.
You sell shares you don't have when opening a short position. You buy shares at a lower price and keep the difference when closing the position. The lower the stock goes, the greater the profit for the short position.
Regarding:
"This is the absolute worst time to sell this stock (unless you're covering a short position) and we are off the sho list."
My opinions are worthless to most since I don't know anything about your bank account or trading style. Your own entry and exit points will determine whether or not you made a good trade.
