"production will peak in the next twenty years"- speculation at best.

"when you know the cash cow wont last into your children's generation"- 90% of several trillion (invested outside the oil industry) is hardly a recipe for poverty.

"the market for oil will continue higher this time until the price destroys some demand"- you may be right, people have compensated by driving smaller cars, have you not seen all the new Corollas on the road? In the '70's you could fill up a VW for $10. Today it cost almost $30 to fill up a Corolla. But then people had mortgages equal to .25% of their monthly income, now it is .33% or more.

I like to bring this seemingly never ending debate to an end with this statement:

I do believe we would all be better off if we had a cleaner renewable way to propel ourselves from here to there. One that did not require our government, in part, to formulate foreign policy on the acquisition and protection of such means of propulsion.
