MusiKube Announces Partnership with Nextcode to Integrate Barcode Scanning with iCapture Music Service

     CTIA Wireless 2004
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2004--

Joint Solution Demonstrates Camera Phone Based Ticket Scanning Application at Alanis Morissette Concert at CTIA

MusiKube, a leading developer of music recognition and discovery solutions, today announced at the CTIA show that it has integrated Nextcode's barcode scanning technology with its iCapture(TM) mobile music recognition and discovery applications.

MusiKube's iCapture Barcode Recognition Service turns camera phones into music capture and discovery devices. Consumers can scan barcodes on advertisements, concert posters, tickets and other print media, such as in-store displays. Users simply launch MusiKube's pre-loaded application on their phone, point the camera at the barcode and connect with music content, services and related products.

MusiKube will showcase their iCapture Barcode Recognition Service through a special promotion with Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Smartphones using Intel silicon, on Monday, March 22, during their launch event, which features an Alanis Morissette concert. Before the concert, launch party guests will have the opportunity to win concert tickets, CDs, posters and exclusive T-shirts by simply scanning the mCode(TM), a special "music" barcode, on their VIP ticket with an iCapture-enabled Smartphone. The Smartphone will then notify ticket holders of prize winnings. MusiKube will also be showcasing this technology at booth #5373 in the mobile music pavilion at CTIA.

"Intel is the technology that enables the delivery of rich multimedia services with longer battery life for cell phones," said Mark Casey, Director of Marketing for the Intel Cellular and Handheld Group. "MusiKube's integration of iCapture service takes advantage of the features of Intel XScale(r) technology to turn camera phones into music capture and discovery devices."

Nextcode's patented barcode reading technology is specifically designed to meet the needs of emerging mobile applications and mobile camera phone devices. It is compatible with a wide range of cameras, processors and optics in standard mobile phones. Nextcode's technology provides robust performance, making it highly usable and consumer friendly for demanding mobile application environments.

"MusiKube is an excellent partner for our technology," explained Jim Levinger, CEO of Nextcode. "MusiKube is in a unique position in the music value chain and its iCapture Service is perfectly aligned with our technology, providing users instant access to a rich music service on cell phones and other wireless devices. One of the things that have held back mobile Internet based services is the cumbersome nature of entering data in the phones. This solution dramatically streamlines this process."

"We decided to partner with Nextcode because of the flexibility and power of their technology," stated Ashley Heather, CEO of MusiKube. "Integrating Nextcode technology with iCapture solutions will help to support our vision of allowing anyone to capture their music interest, whether they hear it, read about or are told about it."
