The first to die in a FPI Vehicle
were killed a year ago November in a Buffalo. They were 3 Army troops. Concenses is they were hit by an EFP.

No Marines have been killed in any FPI vehicles.

The one who died recently was in the Army in one of the "new" MRAPs built by Navistar (International), the MaxxPro, just recently delivered to Iraq (November, I think).

He was the gunner and was standing in his roof-top firing postition. He was killed when the vehicle was overturned. The troops inside suffered foot injuries and cuts.

To give you an idea of what the FPI Cougar can handle, Check this out.

The engine was blown more than 100 feet away from the vehicle !

This Cougar was hit by 100 lbs of explosives. All walked away.

You must remember, the Cougar is a monocoupe chassiss mounted on a frame. In the event of a large explosion, the capsule designed to survive. The rest of the vehicle is designed to take the blast. It is then replaced. The have been reports of FPI Cougars taking dozens of IED attacks, driving or towed back to the motor, repaired, often in days, and returned to their assigned missions.
