How does what the House did this week effect the ability of Fed gov't wiretapping? They STILL can wiretap - just get a court order before or after. As for the tele companies who go along with wiretapping WITHOUT a court order, they will have to take their chances...the gov't can continue to protect these tele companies by obtaining a court order - again, BEFORE or AFTER the wiretap takes place.
This issue was so "critical" to the nation that The Decider wouldn't agree to an extension of time for the House to debate and once the House announced their decision, he went ahead with plans to fly to Africa. Give me a break! He wouldn't consider staying in town to hammer out an agreement? With The Decider it's always my way or the highway. Where's the leadership??
