We can fly a rocket to the moon. But the breakfast is awful everywhere. There's something wrong with that picture.
Like Blue Fin, I don't see that Obama can change things all that much. There are a lot of miserable things which are embedded in the structure, and which no one seems able to alter.
So my picture of the reality of "morning in America" is a kind of symbol of the intransigence of even the most mundane problem. And if a picture can be a parable, a hotel breakfast is surely it.
