Best defense I know of for retaining the words UNDER GOD in the Pledge of Allegiance.

This was spoken while I was still a child by Red Skelton, who was one of America's Best Loved Comedians.

MY THOUGHTS:

It seems that we Americans so often forget that our founding fathers recognized the very DIVINE PROVIDENCE that created this great nation.

Everything that America was formed upon is based on a belief in a DIVINE PROVIDENCE, or "higher authority", if you will.

If that "higher authority" is NOT "GOD", then who or what could it be based upon?

AND NOW, RED SKELTON'S THOUGHTS:

(Sorry that I could not find a complete wav file of his original wording on his weekly TV Show, but you can hopefully imagine how sincere he was, and the powerful emotion portrayed when he stated the ending commentary as shown on the link below.....)

"Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said, THAT IS A PRAYER"?

Please listen to the link from the late great RED SKELTON!
