Much to limited definition for DD. Yours only gains info on what has already occurred - what is. The past could be very rosy and the future stinks. DD must also try to give insight for what is to come. Investing only based on the past is not very good IMO we need to have some sense of where we are going. And that requires getting info from the company. And by definition is likely to be unverifiable yet still useful.
