Thank you for your agreement as you've highlighted
my point perfectly:

"These are idioms, and not meant to be taken scientifically"

Parables, idioms, etc....

We must take it all with a grain of salt, use it for
our own purposes and remember that it is a tool for
interpreting history, "not meant to be taken scientifically" i.e. as fact.
