Mr. Clinton paid a highly publicized call on Mayor Richard M. Daley this week, but the Mayor remains neutral, although "friendly neutral," as one Clinton supporter put it. Still, Mr. Clinton has garnered the support of numerous Chicago pols, including many of the people around Mr. Daley. Mr. Clinton's campaign is heavy with veterans of Illinois politics, like David Wilhelm, the campaign manager, who also managed Mr. Daley's 1989 and 1991 campaigns "They've spent a lot of time contacting and recruiting people, and it's paid off," said Thomas Hynes, the Cook County Assessor, who signed on with the Clinton campaign last year. Then during her campaign, she forgot all about us and pretty much handed it to her opponent. He's been a great Senator, but she didn't seem to even try and defeat his efforts. imho
