I see the concert ads today from ticketmaster and from parents that I work with and you pay today at least $50 bucks and more to see a band....Now im but 51...soon 52....and I think in the 10 year or so span of 1969 to 1980 we saw about every band there was to see of that time...and each concert had a couple head liners and we paid like $5 bucks...We were mountain folk but lived about 1/2 way between Knoxville and Johnson City Tn...About 70 miles each way..And in those days the party inside the coliseum was just as intense as anywhere....Anything and everything you could think of including drink carried in. And then you hit the many outdoor concerts with a couple hundred thousand or more ..AND....I didnt make Woodstock....was just getting started at that time....but in the south there was a couple others about as big in the earily 70's that I made it to. And many smaller...

Its amazing when I see documentaries on PBS about that time of the 60's and 70's of how much society let us hippies get by with....Did they not see...did they not care...were they just freaked out by it all. Sure we were a rugged looking bunch but if we remember we were a peaceful, loving bunch of folks....Of course we didnt spend a lot of time on this planet either..LOL....If not for Vietnam, I think the hippie movement would have stayed peaceful....But I am also one of them that didnt spend a lot of time on this planet for a good number years so what do I know..LOL

How times have change..I do not condon drug and alcohol abuse this day and time...but wasnt in a lot of ways...the 60's and 70's just better?
