Here Comes The DFL
Developmental Football League's bold plan to showcase the underdog with a full media blitz

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The President of the Developmental Football League (DFL) has a plan. Curtis Watts laid out his vision today for a new league where the emphasis is on showcasing the so-called "underdogs" and developing them with a goal of getting to the next level.

Essential in this plan is the cultivation of top talent, assisting their development with further training, drilling them in a pro-type atmosphere of games and promotion, providing the showcase of their own reality television show, and international all-star games.

"The DFL is a 'new' paradigm in post-college football that allows players the opportunity to continue to develop and play more games showcasing their skills," said Watts. "The difference for us is that instead of just being focused solely on qualifying players for the NFL and CFL or as a sole entertainment venture, the DFL is positioned to showcase players through our reality television show, football games, and also as ambassadors of this sport abroad."

The league is set for a draft of 210 players in June and a full schedule of camps and games ending in July this year.

Potential players and coaches are being contracted at this time and each will have full multi-media profiles online. Video, audio, statistics and press releases will be utilized to gain each performer the best coverage possible via the league's website, GoDFL.com.

Watts also stated, "We are a football program that has a television program, not a television program with football. In that we will be true to football in everything that we do."

"I feel strongly that the timelines are focused and the major profit center for the DFL is now in the television revenues. Production with distribution is in agreement, so we have a green light that is no longer blinking; we are ready to go."

In the coming days the DFL will be releasing information about the contracted players and coaches, and will be communicating with hometown and college media outlets to announce their participation in the DFL.

"Once we have the players onsite," said Director of Player Personnel Mike Greer, "it will be non-stop learning and training so that they will be ready for the next level."

The end in mind is the opportunity for the next level and being placed on the elite 40 man roster as "Eagles" that will travel internationally and become ambassadors of the sport.

The DFL is a new league, with an old idea. The DFL gives players with talent and determination the training and opportunity to prove themselves. The DFL was created to provide a chance for these individuals who may have been overlooked, believed not ready for the pros, or free agents who were injured and now need to prove their readiness and ability to make it at the next level. 210 players will be drafted for the inaugural DFL Season. Four weekends of games will culminate in the first DFL All-Star Game. The DFL All-Star Game will allow the nation and professional scouts to access the talent, and perhaps make invitations to camps and workouts.
