AMD Athlon 64 3200+ _____vs._____ Intel P4E 535 (really a 2.8Ghz prescott but not advertised as such)

The OEMs will never take the GHz markings off their placards or their print/internet ads. The GHz is still part of the processor description.

If Intel had designed the system so that performance could be inferred from the model number, that might have happened, but they didn't so the OEMs won't.
