tenac,

If you're doing a study on Pauline epistles, you'll see he found himself offten in the same situation with the Gentiles. The Gentiles had no real respect for the Jewish traditions and it was Peter that introduce them to the Holy Spirit at Cornelius house, the Lord had given Peter a revelation. He was on the rooftop of the Tanners House and a linen sheet came down three times, within the sheet were foods and drink that were not permitted in Jewish traditions and was not practiced in Jerusalem.

Lord told Peter very clearly kill and eat! He being a lot like us said never Lord would I eat such impure food. Then as many times happens to myself the Lord rebuked him and said'" what I call clean you will not call unclean, and what I call unclean you will not call clean" it really had nothing to do with food, the Lord was just preparing him to go to Cornelius's house and introduce the Holy Spirit to the Gentiles you can read the story in Acts. Paul took over the ministry to the Gentiles when Barnabas went and got him from Tarsus and brought him to Antioch.

Paul was very protective over the Gentiles though they never really appreciated his scholarship nevertheless he was obedient to his call, and try as he may to submit and unite with the Jerusalem church there were many difficulties.

Getting to my point though, when Paul was in Athens he was kind of in hiding, and as he was walking around looking at all the statues and realizing that there was a great structure of intellectualism there, he was intrigued as he himself was an intellectual man. The scholars of Athens accepted him as a philosopher. Paul used it to his advantage as he found a statue to the unknown God! So the first thing he spoke to them about was the fact that they had a statue of the God that he served, they were quite complexed and answered in saying which God is that, Pauls reply was, the unknown God.

They told him they had erected statues for all the gods that they knew of and wanted to be sure they didn't leave any out that none of them would be offended, and not being sure if they had missed any erected a statue to the unknown GOD.

So naturally they were very curious about this unknown God, and Paul took full advantage to introduce them to Jesus and the teachings of Jesus also to the Holy Spirit and the power of the Spirit. If you follow the Pauline epistles you'll see he was the most qualified to teach the Christian Jews the truth of Christ after his conversion on the road to Damascus which basically disqualified him, seems like the things we are most suited for we are less likely to let God do the work and take it upon ourselves. Like the wise men that showed up at the birth of Christ, they had no understanding physically what was going on they had seen in the stars that a great king was to be born. When they came to King Herod to ask where they might find this KING, King Herod had no idea, but he asked that when they found him that they would return and tell him where he was. King Herod is the one that should have been there bearing gifts and making way for the Messiah he was the most qualified but that's not how it turned out.

The Weisman did not return, and that's when the order went out for all firstborn males under the age of two should be killed.

We know there is only one God, one KING and we are very safe in that. So no matter how hot they make the furnace the going in seems so horrific but they coming out is truly terrific. So my brother let your light shine amongst the Gentiles and remember that the power of the Holy Spirit has the ability to touch hearts and change minds in miraculous ways. They are not your enemy, flesh and blood we wrestle not against but it is principalities and powers! You are blessed to work in such a diverse situation for many of the Gentiles are not caught up in the politics or the power struggles of the common church and its denominations, guard them from the circumcision parties and from those who would throw gasoline on them to put the fire out thinking they are doing a service for God, Paul knew how that felt being a killer of Christians before his conversion he thought they were a cult until Jesus finally knocked him off his horse he never forgot that. As always my prayers are with you, I like your simple ways and you are at a great advantage in preaching the simple truth to a simple people. Love you much. Val smile

,,,just chill, that's what my kids say, seems to work,,,
