PL1 Thank you for

the refresher course. I learned some new things from your post. I always thought just take your fingers and poke out their eyes. That's what you do in the woods if a bear decides to attack you.

I have a story. I was about 20 years old. I decided to travel Mexico. My brother's girl friend worked for Berlitz? (sp) language school. She was down in Mexico on an expense account. (Those are always nice. LOL) My brother speaks Spanish very well. I talked my brother into us just "hitting the road" and we would meet her down there.

We hitch hiked, took the bus, train. Whatever. It was a long journey. I caught their version of the flu down there. I recovered in Mexico city. I had enough and wanted to go home. U.S.A.

Rules of the road is you stay off the high way at night. By dark you should be in a hotel where ever you're at or in a tent. (Sometimes you land in places with no lodging and have to pitch a tent)

It was dusk. The three of us were then deciding where we would hold up for the night. We were hitch hiking. A semi truck (their version) pulled over and the back of the truck was empty as he had dropped of his load. He was going a long way, driving thru the night, in the direction we were going. We decided to take the ride. I told my brother I would sit up front and they could catch up on their sleep in the back of the truck.

Couple of hours went by and he pulled over the truck. He spoke no English and I spoke hardly any Spanish.

He grabbed me and started to unzip his pants. I reached over to grab the horn down to alert my brother and wake them up. He slammed me before I could pull on the horn. He then reached over and pulled out a machete and held it to my throat. He continued to unzip his pants.

I wore a religious medal. I showed it to him. He didn't care.

I then started to pray the Lords prayer out loud.

Then I don't know what happened to him.

All of a sudden a fear seized him. (It was from God) He got visibly confused, then he got really, really, afraid. He was shaking when he zipped up his pants and took that weapon away from my throat.

We drove on for hours in silence. I was trying to see and pay attention to where we were but it was hard as it was a dark, dark, road.

Dawn came. It was then time for the ride to end. I made sure I had all my stuff (personal belongings) on me. I had to wake up my brother and his girl friend. Next he took all of their stuff and drove off.

There we were in the middle of no where. I had water and a map and I.D. and money and all my stuff. They wore a money belt as well and had their passports, but that was it. They got out with the clothes on their backs.

I told them what happened. My brothers girl friend lost it. She went off crying. Then we had to calm her down.
Then try to figure out where we were and how to get back to a main road. We decided to walk out. Who knew where we were. He left us to die.

We walked on that dirt road. All dirt roads lead to other dirt roads in Mexico. lol

Finally we saw a car. Told him we were lost and needed to get to town and we just piled in that car whether he liked it or not. We then got our bearings to where we were and to another dirt road that at least had a few cars on it. Then in to town and we were now back "on the road", and continued as planned like nothing never happened.

God was good to me. I praise Him for not letting me get my throat slit after I could of gotten raped. He was a bandito. (sp)
