Actually, by the time we were liberated, our group grew to about 16 Jewish kids hiding in an isolated Vila (British owned and of course vacant at the time, and partially bearing "wounds of war") and in contact (till July 44 or so) through my own Mother to the underground. My Mother (known as Red Riding hood, due to her "flaming red chevelure" led a group of people that hid Jewish kids (thousands of them) in Christian homes in southern Belgium and Vishy France). Unfortunately, neither my Mother nor Father survived. My Father was caught after blowing up a printing house (where the Germans were printing ration booklet, a necessary "commodity" to support all the kids in hiding) and perished in Aushwitz.
