Dear ****:

Thanks for your most recent email. As always, it is great to hear from you and learn about the continuing successes of DNAPrint. I apologize for the delay in my response. It has been a busy few weeks and I am just now getting caught up on my correspondence. (he was in Iraq)

As you know, I am a strong supporter of using DNA technology to help solve crimes and stop criminals from doing more harm - including the terrible crimes the ***** police are trying to solve that you mentioned in your email.

In fact, I have some progress to report on the DNA legislation I have told you about in the past. Shortly before we broke for the holidays, I helped pass the "Advancing Justice through DNA Technology Act of 2003" through the House of Representatives. As you know, This bill contains hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for DNA programs at the state and local level. I imagine DNAPrint will be a likely beneficiary of the funds available under this legislation.

As soon as I return to Washington I will be pushing my Senate colleagues to take up and pass this important bill.

Thanks again for your email. Best wishes on a healthy, happy and prosperous 2004.

Best Regards,

Mark Green
