Rambos 5ema gives greater weight to more recent data in an attempt to reduce the lag of (or "smooth") the moving average.5sma is very close to the same yet my experience i perfer 5ema.I'm a MTM trader so the wash sale has no effect on me.My interest is to protect capital and ride trends.For people who what to know MTM trader.Market to MARKET trader is a trader who has officially elected with IRS to employ the MTM method of accounting for positions at the end of the year.This allows me buy and sell a position as many times as i like with no wash sale to worry about.I play many earning positions so this method comes in handy.
